December Newsletter: Winding Down, Warming Up, and Looking After Ourselves
A Warm December Welcome
As the year draws to a close and the festive season approaches, many of us feel the shift, shorter days, colder air, and a natural urge to slow down. December is a wonderful time to reconnect with our health, restore balance, and enter the new year feeling grounded rather than depleted.
This month’s newsletter brings you a short reflection, a practical wellbeing tip, some uplifting news from the wider health world, and our clinic’s festive opening hours.
The Value of Gentle Adjustments
In chiropractic and integrative healthcare, we often remind patients that big changes rarely happen all at once. Instead, meaningful improvement usually comes from gentle, consistent adjustments, to posture, movement, breathing, rest patterns, and mindset.
December offers an ideal opportunity to notice these little habits:
- the way we sit during long meals or gatherings
- how we carry shopping bags or luggage
- whether we slow down enough to allow the body and mind to recover
Gentle chiropractic care, mindful daily movement, and intensional breathing practices can make these final weeks of the year more comfortable, even restorative. Think of it as preparing your body and mind for a healthier start to the new year.
December Practical Health Tip: Reduce Your Daily Microplastic Exposure
Here are some simple, practical steps you can take this month:
1️⃣ Choose a kettle without internal plastic components
When boiling water, heat accelerates plastic leaching. Opt for stainless steel or glass kettles where the water touches only non-plastic surfaces.
2️⃣ Replace plastic chopping boards
Switch to composite or wooden boards. They last longer, are easier on your knives, and shed far fewer particles and are less prone to harbouring bacteria compared with heavily scratched plastic boards.
3️⃣ Reduce disposable coffee cup use
Most paper cups are lined with plastic. Bring your own reusable cup, it’s better for you and the planet.
4️⃣ Avoid microwaving food in plastic containers
Heat increases chemical transfer. Use glass or ceramic instead.
Positive News: A Step Forward for Spine & Musculoskeletal Health
A recent UK-wide review reported an encouraging trend: more NHS services are recognising the value of conservative, non-invasive care, including exercise-based rehabilitation and manual therapy for musculoskeletal conditions.
This shift highlights a broader movement toward evidence-informed, whole-person care, a welcome development for chiropractic, integrative health, and anyone seeking safer alternatives to surgery or long-term medication. Holistic approaches are gaining visibility and respect, and that’s something worth celebrating.
We recommend booking ahead if you'd like to come in before the new year,
sessions tend to fill quickly during December.
